Atomic Energy Central School, Kalpakkam 603 102 (TN), one of the units of Atomic Energy Education Society (AEES), Mumbai,
an autonomous body of Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, which is dedicated to impart holistic education
up to Senior Secondary level to the wards of working force in Department of Atomic Energy across the country

in addition to young scholars of local area under SEEP and certain categories of Non-DAE. AECS, Kalpakkam-603102(T.N.)
is situated on the eastern shores of India, with the vast Bay of Bengal touching its feet. It is about 70 Kms
from Chennai. This School was inaugurated by Padmashri C.V.Sundaram, Director, IGCAR
with Classes 1 and 2 with a total strength of 394 students on the 5th August, 1987. It is affiliated to CBSE,
New Delhi (old affiliation no. is 1930131 new affiliation no. is 1980004). The school has well equipped Labs in
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Computer Science. It has a rich library, sports
(equipped with gym facility), music and art room with updated teaching aids such as TV, VCR and audio cassettes,
tape-recorder, overhead projector, Internet, K-yan, etc. Satellite Interactive Terminal (SIT) has been
established and was inaugurated by Dr. S.K.Kulshreshtha, Chairman, AEES on the 20th of November, 2008. AECS-1,
Kalpakkam has put up a landmark development in all dimensions. With the introduction of CCE by CBSE, New Delhi,
school has updated it's strategy to facilitate young scholars by opening up of avenues in area of diverse
human interests e.g., debate & skit on CCE, organizing mock parliament, introduction of new activities,
(which may be performed by using
the available resources in surrounding areas e.g., coco craft, shell craft, best out of waste, etc.,)
visit to industries and places of historical and cultural importance, activities on the available
resources in the region like, interaction with neighborhood schools, NGO's, etc. besides sports and games,
art and music. Students and staff get philanthrophi as and when needed by donating funds very generously. ..................................
